چکیده
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects not using routine nasogastric (NG) or nasojejunal (NJ) tubes on postoperative complications in gastric cancer patients undergoing resection. Methods: This includes 250 who underwent resection diagnosed with adenocarcinoma between November 2011 and December 2021. were divided into two groups: those routinely use NG NJ tube early period do not. Postoperative length hospital stay compared groups. Results: Demographic, surgical, histopathological characteristics similar Oral feeding started earlier non- group. There no difference groups regarding (p = 0.065). Severe (Clavien Dindo ≥ 3) significantly lower did a 0.001). Two NG/NJ group one non-NG/NJ developed anastomotic leakage. Conclusions: According results our study, does reduce severe stay.

Routine Follow-Up Biopsies after Complete Endoscopic Resection for Early Gastric Cancer May Be Unnecessary
PURPOSE Local recurrence, due to residual tumor, may occur after endoscopic resection for early gastric cancer. The aims of this study are to evaluate the predictive factors for local recurrence, and suggest an appropriate follow-up biopsy strategy. MATERIALS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 396 early gastric cancers from 372 consecutive patients, who underwent endoscopic resection bet...
متن کاملMeta-analysis of the need for nasogastric or nasojejunal decompression after gastrectomy for gastric cancer.
BACKGROUND Nasogastric or nasojejunal decompression has been used routinely to prevent anastomotic leakage, hasten the return of bowel function and shorten hospital stay after gastrectomy for gastric cancer. This meta-analysis evaluates the necessity for such routine decompression. METHODS Medline, Embase and The Cochrane Library were searched. Only prospective randomized controlled trials (R...
متن کاملBench-to-bedside review: Routine postoperative use of the nasogastric tube – utility or futility?
This article provides a summary of current information on rational postoperative use of the nasogastric tube, based on a review of literature related to postoperative gastrointestinal discomfort and management with the nasogastric tube. Routine gastric decompression after major surgery neither hastens the return of bowel function nor diminishes the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting...
متن کاملGastroesophageal reflux and tracheobronchial contamination after cardiac surgery: should a nasogastric tube be routine?
Nasogastric (NG) tubes are routinely used in patients undergoing cardiac surgery. This randomized study was designed to assess gastroesophageal reflux (GER) without a NG tube (control) compared with a NG tube managed either by gravity drainage (gravity) or continuous low-grade suction (suction). Antimony pH probes were placed in the lower esophagus and trachea after induction of anesthesia in 5...
متن کاملGastric phytobezoars may be treated by nasogastric Coca-Cola lavage.
Large gastric phytobezoars may occur in patients with gastric dysmotility disorders. Treatment options include dissolution with enzymes, endoscopic fragmentation with removal or aspiration, and surgery. We report our experience with nasogastric cola lavage therapy. Over an 8-year period, five consecutive patients were referred to our unit for endoscopic treatment of large gastric phytobezoars. ...
